Delaware Sensory Museum is building Delaware’s first immersive sensory museum and inclusive learning environment where children of all abilities can play, discover, regulate, and thrive.
More than a future museum, DSM is a mobile movement bringing together families, educators, healthcare providers, and community partners to create spaces and programs designed for every child to belong.
-

ACCESSIBILITY MATTERS
We design every space and experience to ensure individuals of all abilities can fully participate, engage, and feel supported without barriers.
-

REGULATION THROUGH PLAY
Interactive sensory-based activities help children develop emotional regulation, focus, and coping skills in a natural, play-centered environment.
-

COMMUNITY DRIVEN
DSM is built with families, educators, clinicians, and advocates working together to shape a space that reflects real community needs.
-

INCLUSIVE FOR ALL ABILITIES
Every exhibit and program is intentionally designed to welcome neurodiverse individuals and people across the full spectrum of abilities.
-

SENSORY EXPLORATION
We provide immersive, hands-on sensory environments that encourage curiosity, support developmental growth, and help children learn through exploration and experience.
WHAT IS DELAWARE SENSORY MUSEUM?
Delaware Sensory Museum (DSM) is a nonprofit organization creating innovative, sensory-informed environments that foster inclusive play, learning, and connection.
Our vision is to build a destination where children can explore freely, caregivers feel supported, and communities gain the tools to better understand and serve neurodivergent individuals.‍ ‍
Through community events, educational trainings, and our upcoming Empower Play Pilot Program, DSM is already transforming how families access support—long before our permanent museum doors open.
WHY DELAWARE NEEDS THIS
1 in 31 children in the United States is diagnosed with autism.
1 in 6 children are diagnosed with one or more developmental delays or disabilities.
Thousands of families across Delaware are searching for safe, welcoming environments where their children can play without judgment, regulate their sensory needs, and experience true inclusion.
Delaware Sensory Museum exists to fill this gap by creating a place where sensory-informed design, education, and community come together.
